Saint Patrick Athletic Philosophy
At Saint Patrick School the primary purpose of the athletic program is to promote the physical, mental, social, emotional and moral well being of the participants. It is the hope of Saint Patrick School that athletics will be a positive force in preparing our young people for an enriching and vital role in our society. The athletic program is considered an important and integral part of the total school program and is open to participation by all students who attend Saint Patrick School. Through voluntary participation, the athlete gives time, energy and loyalty to the athletic program. The student also accepts the training rules, regulations and responsibilities that are unique to an athletic program. In order to contribute to the good of the program, the athlete must assume these obligations as the role demands sacrifices not required of other students.
All coaches will work with their student-athletes to develop the skills necessary, to the extent of the student’s ability, so that they can compete at their level of competition. It is also the role of the coach to emphasize athletics as a partner with other school activities in the total educational process and to formulate and maintain policies that will cultivate the high ideals of good citizenship and the spirit of athletic competition.
Coaches will attempt to make game participation a priority for all. But actual participation in each game must take into account such factors as academics, attitude, attendance at practice, following rules, etc.
