Nurturing the Whole Child

Saint Patrick Band Program

The Saint Patrick School offers students in grades 4 through 8 the opportunity to participate in an active performing arts program in instrumental music. Students receive instruction on their particular instrument, as well as in music theory and music fundamentals during their weekly lessons. Student lessons are conducted during the school day on Wednesdays.

In addition, they also participate in the large Catholic Saints Band, composed of students from Saint Patrick’s, Saint John Vianney and Saint William’s Schools. The Catholic saints Band has a strong, vibrant history; and was established in 1979 as a fine arts program in the Janesville Catholic schools. The combined band practices once a week after school from 3:15 to 4:15 PM on most Wednesdays at Saint John Vianney School. Performance opportunities include the annual Christmas and Spring concerts, solo and ensemble contests for 7th and 8th graders, as well as special performances at Saint Patrick’s throughout the year.

How do we register: Students can sign-up at the beginning of each year in September, when the band information and enrollment forms are sent home or contact Mrs. Catherine Mumma our band director. No prior music experience is necessary. Mrs. Mumma helps the students select what instrument to play; choosing from flute, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, trombone or percussion.

(The Saint Patrick School Band Program is a contract-based program with reasonable fees.)
